· Il testo della ghost track The Struggle è preso dal libro L'Arte della Guerra di Sun Tzu.
· Inizialmente il nome dell'album doveva essere "Welcome to the Universe".
· 93 milioni di miglia è la distanza media tra Terra e Sole.
· Le fotografie per il booklet sono state fatte da Shannon.
· La band aveva composto più di 50 canzoni per questo cd, ma solo 12 vennero registrate.
· Inizialmente si era pensato di utilizzare come artwork l’immagine di un jet fighter che esplode nell’aria, con il pilota che riesce a lanciarsi fuori. In seguito agli attacchi dell’11 settembre, però, quest’idea venne accantonata.

· L'album è stato registrato in tre anni in cinque stati appartenenti a quattro continenti diversi.
· Inizialmente, il nome dell'album avrebbe dovuto essere "The Battle of One".
· Cinque mesi prima dell'uscita prevista, l'album era già disponibile in rete per essere scaricato illegalmente. La data di uscita fu quindi anticipata, e furono aggiunte delle bonus track.
· Sono state scritte circa quaranta canzoni, tra cui sono poi state scelte quelle che compaiono ora nell'album. Attack, il primo singolo, era stata iniziamente scartata.
· Hunter è una cover della canzone di Bjork.
· L'album è stato premiato con il disco d'oro e successivamente con quello di platino.
